About me

    
Originally from Batley, I graduated from Leeds College of Art in 2011 with a BA (Hons) in Printed Textiles and Surface Pattern Design. As a designer I am primarily focused upon creating handmade, bespoke design solutions, for a variety of different applications including bespoke prints, interiors, handmade pieces, greetings cards and gift-ware.

I have always been passionate about the hand crafted approach towards surface pattern design and so I continued to progress with my handmade pieces after leaving college and contributed to my first arts fair called ‘The Headingley Arts Trail’ in November 2011. Specialising in Surface design, I then developed my signature style of handmade limited edition pieces as well as my illustrative digital work. Alongside entering various surface pattern competitions which embraced aspects of illustration, hand cut collages, photography and even creating a contemporary and innovative calendar & diary, which I was lucky enough to win in September 2011.

My design work is usually inspired by the natural world, subtle colour palettes, typography, quirky illustration and photography. Although since graduating from LCAD I have learnt to become much more diverse within my designing and am now influenced by almost everything around me. For example some of my latest design work included hand drawn illustrations of biscuits, cupcakes and even watch links.

When I’m not working you will find me laser cutting, hand stitching, illustrating, cutting and sticking, experimenting with digital manipulation or creating greetings cards, which is what I love to do. I am looking for opportunities to experience working in a professional design environment whether that be placement work, freelance or even commission, I am eager to continue learning.
